P for Partition, you can’t control when you’ll get hit on the head by a stray piano.

A is for Availability. when struck with a P, and you want to keep A, you will have to give up C until the problem is fixed. One of the solutions is agreeing to have eventual consistency.

C is for Consistency. If you are a stuck-up stickler for details and must a consistent DB, expect to get only eventual availability. No, that’s not a thing. you’ll learn.
